Becoming a Student

The Reiki Center of Venice believes that if you have a passion for flowers and aromas, then we can help you to enhance your knowledge when you are ready to become a student of Aromatherapy. We strive to give our students the most recent, up-to-date information in accordance with NAHA standards of excellence.

To become an applicant to this study program you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be able to read and understand English
  • Successfully complete all assignments and pass the final exam with a 80% or better grade.

The Reiki Center of Venice does not discriminate with regards to race, sex, age, physical impairment, sexual orientation, religion or national origin.

Once we receive your order for the selected course, you will be mailed your course along with a student registration form that must be filled out and returned to the Center along with your completed assignments, tests, book report and final blend. You will then be given a student ID# afterwards.

The Holistic Aromtherapy Certification is a 230 hour course broken down as follows:

  • Level One-Introduction to Aromatherapy (30 hours)
  • Level Two-Advanced Aromatherapy (200 hours)

 

Level One--Introduction to Holistic Aromatherapy Course

30 Hours

Course follow the standards and suggestions on the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA).

There are no prerequisites for taking this course

Students will receive a Certificate upon successful completion of this course.

This program will aide massage therapists who are looking for more knowledge on creating a healthy practice for themselves and for their clients. Spa practitioners, acupuncturists, store owners and healthcare providers will also benefit themselves, their clients and their customers by increasing their knowledge and uses for essential oils.

Level Two--Advanced Holistic Aromatherapy

200 Hours

 

NAHA Level Two: Professional Aromatherapy Certification

 

1. Required Standards of Education/Training
1.1 Schools and Educators wishing to comply with NAHA’s Standards of Aromatherapy Training must provide a minimum of two hundred (200) hours of training and practical tuition in the fields of aromatherapy and essential oil studies and anatomy and physiology.
1.2 According to the standards approved and adopted by the Council, Aromatherapy and Essential oil studies should comprise of the following core curriculum requirements:

 

  • History and Modern Development
  • The basics of botany (specifically taxonomy)
  • Properties of essential oils within a holistic and clinical framework
  • Methods of extraction
  • Organic chemistry
  • Carrier oils
  • Blending techniques
  • Methods of application
  • Safety and Aromatherapy (including dermal, respiratory and internal use)
  • Consultation and client education program design
  • The basics of business development
  • Legal and ethical issues (include a copy of the NAHA Code of Ethics for students)

 

 

 

The following systems to be covered in depth:

  • The Respiratory System
  • The Olfactory System
  • The Integumentary System
  • The Circulatory System
  • The Reproductive System
  • The Musculoskeletal System
  • The Lymphatic/Immune System
  • The Endocrine and Nervous System
  • The Urinary System
  • The Digestive System

 

 

Graduating students should be knowledgeable in the structure and function of all the major systems of the human body, together with the clinical science of at least five (5) common ailments of each system. Students entering an aromatherapy program with a degree in health related fields (E.g. nurses, massage therapists, doctors) may test out or be exempt from the anatomy and physiology section only in relation to that part of the training which goes over the structure and function of each system. Pre-existing health professionals are still required to complete training in the application of essential oils to each system and the effect of essential oils on a variety of common ailments. Any exemption of the anatomy and physiology portion of training should only be allowed when the request for exemption is fully supported by relevant documentation.

 

 

2. Required elements for student graduation based upon approved standards in aromatherapy education


2.1.1 Student must complete a 5-10 page research paper. (Topic is your choice but must deal with Aromatherapy. Be sure to cite credible courses in your paper).

2.1.2 Student must complete a minimum of 10 case histories and follow-ups.

2.1.3 Student must sit and pass a final test in the comfort of their own home that is offered by the school.

2.1.4 Student must read a book of their choice on Anatomy & Physiology.

How long will I have to finish the course?


There is no time limit for the student to complete the course. One of the advantages of a correspondence course is that a student can work at their own pace. So, please don't feel the need to rush through lessons. Take as much time as you need to assimilate the information and use what you have learned.

Students are free to e-mail or write me at any time.
I cannot return phone calls. There will be videos available in the future for purchase that will lead you through many of the projects listed in the study.

 

 

Are there on-site classes available?


Yes.
Individual and group instruction is available on-site for an additional $ 20.00 an hour. Supplies are extra. Most classes are private, one-on-one sessions. Call to schedule your session.

 

For those living within the area, this certification course includes 4 hours of instruction time on-site.
